Movie Magazine Research

After the Christmas break i have started to process my front cover for my media magazine, i have started to research different magazine for the movie industry. These are magazines such as, "Empire" and "Total Film". i have based my magazine around these. here are some examples of what i would want my magazine to look like:

As you can see the lead character is always on the front of the magazine and they are always situated in a scenario that there character would be in. e.g. captain america is stood in front of an american flag, I am going to be different with my magazine as i am going to have an exclusive on my front cover which will be a picture on the set of the filming of my trailer, as in i will have a picture of a shot that could be used in the film. I think this could be effective and break away from the traditional main character pose on the front of all the traditional  magazines

Movie Poster Production

I have begun to create the poster to follow up my trailer and my movie, I have decided to make a poster that will capture the audience and will stick to the horror/thriller genre. I thought that the picture should be linked with a scene from the movie.
So far I have started to create the poster in Microsoft publisher, I filled the page going from white at the top to black at the bottom, this is a good to bad signifier to the audience that it is better to stay in the light that be in the darkness where anything could happen. i then added the starring characters names in the bottom third of the page and edited there names in a red and bold font so they stick out on the black background. I then went on to created a credits at the bottom with the producers names and directors names. I added these to stick to the stereotype of the horror posters. I have then said that the film is based on a book called "Lost In School" this is a made up book.
At the bottom of my poster i have put my company logo in the bottom left, which i have then put the company that has paid for our film to be made this company is "Twisted Pictures" then i have got loads of images at the bottom these include the editing software we used these being "Imovie" and the music editing software the being "Logic Pro 8"
Here is what i have at the end of day 1:

I have now added the image onto my poster, this was a big task that involved cropping and editing the orginal image so it would fit into my poster and i could make parts of the image stand out to the audience who would see my poster.

As you can see i have moved the names around so the lead characters name is in the middle and is on top of her in the image and i have made the girls jacket a little bit brighter so the color of red stands out more and made the character in the background blends into the background more. i think the overall image is effective as it can clearly be linked with my film if see on a billboard or in a cinema.
